Never Waste a Crisis!? – The Impact of the COVID-19 Crisis on the Mental Health of EDM DJs

The COVID-19 crisis places an unprecedented strain on industry already characterised by poor mental health due to challenging working conditions, including the difficulty of sustaining a living, anti-social hours, exhaustion, and inability plan time future. This article discusses current conditions musicians in dealing with exceptional situation through retrospective perspective those affected. Based qualitative interview study conducted EDM DJs during first lockdown Germany, I use three exemplary cases give insights into their individual experienced living environments conditions. show how is related previous life situation, state, personal self-perceptions as DJs. further argue that may not only have negative impact (already poor) creative professionals but also bring health-promoting potential.
